Just leaving Laem Son N.P. I was at Sri Phang nga N.P. because I wanted a picture of the male Banded Pitta. So I decided to cut across and take a leisurely drive back to Phetchaburi. On Hwy 4.
Got to Laem Son N.P. around lunch time. After lunch I noticed a lot of noise in the trees. And did not recognize the sounds. Turned out to be the Red-breasted Parakeet. Really noisy birds. I counted about 15-20. They were very high in the trees and difficult to photograph. Anyway a nice surprise for me. And I intened to go back and spend a few days and try to get some good shoots of this beautiful Parakeet.
I also saw the Collared Kingfisher. Not a lot of bird variety but worth a stop and look next time in the area for sure.
Also the road up the cost is a very pleasant drive. Lots of unspoiled jungle and the beaches are very nice. I will spend a couple of days driving this stretch of road. Stopping and exploring some along the way. The area is growing like crazy. So it wont be long before this is a thriving tourist destination IMO. I plan to explore it before that happens I
Birding is free,,,, great exercise.
