All three lenses are wide open.
Had to have the Canon 300 adjusted, it seems to be sharper than the Sigma 500mm prime and surely better than the Sigma 300mm prime now.
So happy with my two Canon lenses now. Definitely a step in the right direction IMO. Pretty much confirmed my suspision the Canon 7D is an extremly bad camera to use with the new super telephoto lenses. Mine is just a night mare with a 1.4 T.C. These tests prove to me, it is the camera not the lens. So what to do now. Buy a new camera body. Or wait? It pisses me off not being able to use the 1.4 T.C. effectively with the new super telephoto's and 7D. What the F &^%* Canon. Why not a good crop body with decent AF?
I did make up my mind to buy the new Pentax K-5 II body. After doing these tests it pretty much showed me how far behind Canon is with the 18mp sensor in my 7D.
I shot a few test shots with the new Canon 500mm lens about a month ago when I bought it. Did not want to shoot it again. I will tell you this, it is off the charts... A super super lens. I am still saying holy shit when I look at a pic with it. I even slept with it the first few nights. And I am not joking!!
FIRST TWO WITH THE CANON 300mm AND 1.4 T.C.
Sharp across the entire frame on my 7D. Very important to me.
